Today, as on many days, I was taking a for-my-health walk behind and through St. Anne’s Retirement Community, near where I live. Along the small creek in the pasture I saw, as I frequently do, two like-to-live-near-water birds.

The first was a belted kingfisher, an expert fisher, as his name declares. His large head and crest and his loud, rattling call are unmistakable.

The other bird was a great blue heron – much larger than a kingfisher, graceful in shape, majestic in flight, somewhat suggestive of a prehistoric creature, I think.
(The photos are not of my taking. They come from Google.)
What birds do you see in your daily routine?
We walk with beauty all around us – beauty prepared by a wise and powerful Creator.
How many are your works, O Lord!
In wisdom you made them all;
the earth is full of your creatures.
