During the past two weeks I have been reading the Letter to the Hebrews.

Today I was impressed with this statement from chapter 12, verse 28: (more…)

Everywhere people talk about the weather. London is part of everywhere!

Last week, they say, they had unseasonably warm temperatures. This week so far - cold and breezy. But it seemed that today was warmer, so we went for our morning exercise walk in short sleeves. By the end, one hour later, I was wishing I had long sleeves, but we survived.

Partly sunny, then rain, then partly sunny again by 5:00 PM.

Sunrise tomorrow will be 5:30 AM.

After office work we spent some free time at Westfield, the huge new mall that I described in a blog some time ago. The architecture is exceptional. Outside, along a row of eateries is a long living wall packed full of plants and flowers, with a terraced waterfall at its base. I have never seen anything like it - which, incidentally, is a statement I find myself making quite often in my travels.

Due to the overcast sky and drizzling rain, these photos don't do justice to this piece of art, but at least you get some idea of it.

In the evening, we went to a meeting of persons who are preparing for debates this fall between Christians and Muslims on a variety of subjects. I am impressed with the detailed knowledge these people have about these two religions. Carmen, a member of our London team, leads these planning sessions.

Back at our hotel, A. S., who is the night staff person, brought me a platter of Pakistani food that he had prepared for his supper - and he had made an extra helping for me. It was a stew of chicken (on the bone) and vegetables. Very spicy and very good. I am richly blessed with friends from many nations.

Today Julio and Melanie and daughters flew to Guatemala to live. They will work among street boys, as part of a team of workers serving with INNERChange. We are eager to hear from them as to how their trip went.

We arrived in London at 6:30 AM, after a flight with almost no turbulence.

During the flight I began reading Christian Perspectives on the Isreli-Palestinian Conflict which is edited by Wesley Brown and Peter Penner.

Holy Week 2009
April 9, 2009

A prayer for Holy Week:

Lord Jesus Christ, you lived among us and tasted all of life, its joys and sorrows. You entered into suffering as none of us has ever entered or could enter. We stand in awe of your suffering and agony. You died for sins once for all, the rightous for the unrighteous, to bring us back to God. All glory and praise to you. Amen.

In my post of London Journal for March 23 I referred to Giraffe Restaurant in Heathrow Air Terminal. Here is a view of the animals in the center of the restaurant.
