A summer flower

A few years ago I learned about Acidanthera, or the peacock orchid. One is blooming in our back yard right now.

The species seems to be little known. I am not aware of any of my friends or neighbors who grow it.

  1. I had some of these planted and they grew for a few years. I am not sure what happened to them nor have I thought of them for many years. But what a beautiful flower. I may have to look into the peacock orchid again. The other looks like the Sweet Autumn clematis. I have it growing at the lamp post. It will be blooming soon. It was much bigger but Jim gave it a haircut. I was not happy but the deed was done before I was aware of it. Check out the area when driving by. Don’t know if you can take a piece and get it to grow but you are welcomed to try.
Thanks again for taking us along on your journeys. The pictures are beautiful.

  2. John,

Lily and I enjoyed your company for lunch. Hope you had a good visit with family.

I did have one question that I forgot to ask during your message. You mentioned that you would like to have known how they trained the elephant to stand on the beach ball.

My question is related to that – how did they design a beach ball to withstand the weight of the elephant???

    • Hey, Gary,
We learned so much in our visit with you folks. Thanks for your kind hospitality.
About the beach ball and your question, you must be part engineer to ask a questions like that.
Peace and joy to you always through Christ our Lord.
