Guatemala – Monday, November 15, 2010

I keep checking my email messages when I can because there are a few missions issues that need some attention these days, but for the most part this is a true vacation, which we thoroughly enjoy.

In the morning we all went shopping for a few Christmas gifts. In Central Park we saw several women, dressed in traditional Indian clothing and holding large white candles, having their photos taken. Because of the candles we guess that they were on their way to the cathedral, but that is only a guess.

We went to a restaurant for early lunch. The decor included old photos and memorabilia. Note the fountain and fresh flowers.

Many of the bus drivers (or owners) give expression to their Christian faith through a message printed on the bus. Here you see the message “Cristo vive,” Christ lives.

Toward evening I went to the cathedral to meditate and pray.

God is far above all things, but he also condescends to meet with us and live in us.
